Parking options for practices and programs at Doheny State Beach.
Getting Here
Directions from the 5 Freeway
Take Exit 79 toward Beach Cities. The off-ramp becomes Pacific Coast Highway (1N). Turn left at the second light onto Dana Point Harbor Drive.
Option 1
Doheny State Beach
Closest to the volleyball courts
- Cost
- Free drop-off, $2/hour, or $15/day
- Directions
- Turn left at Park Lantern, the first left, and enter Doheny State Beach.
- At the entrance
- Stay left of the guardhouse. There is no need to stop or speak with the guard.
- Distance
- About 100 feet from the volleyball courts.
- Annual Pass
- Parking is included with the $195 State Parks annual pass.
Do not block the driveway onto the beach. Emergency vehicles
use this access point.
Option 2
Basketball Courts Lot
Free parking

- Free
- Directions
- Turn right at Park Lantern, the first right. Go about 200 feet up the hill, then turn right into the lot by the basketball court.
- Distance
- About 400 yards from the volleyball courts.
Option 3
Harbor Side
Metered parking
- Cost
- $1/hour, or free with an Orange County Parking Permit.
- Directions
- Turn left at Puerto Place, the second left. Then take the first left into the metered lot.
- Distance
- About 400 feet from the volleyball courts.
- Important
- The Orange County Parking Permit is different from the State Parks annual pass.
Finding the Courts
Walking Directions
From your parking area, walk toward the two-story lifeguard tower building on the beach. The volleyball courts are located there.
